What Our Clients Are Saying

We had 5 basalt columns surrounded by rock installed in an old basin from a prior fountain and the price/quality of work from Purely Ponds was amazing. Chris and his team did the job in 2 days and we could not be happier. They are kind, reasonable and highly recommended. We called many places in the area and Purely ponds is hands down the place to go if you are wanting a water feature in Colorado Springs.

Chris has the vision, creativity and expertise needed to create masterpiece water features. We had to wait patiently for our turn, but once he and his crew started, they were done in less than a week. We are delighted with the result and enjoy coffee or lunch or a glass of wine on our deck where we can enjoy the sights and sounds of our water feature. Highly recommended!!!

Chris is a master artist! I never expected to see such a beautiful pond on my property. Chris came out to see what may be possible and with in minutes I knew he was the man for the job. His artistry with stone and water produced a magnificent pond and falls. I have spent hours admiring his work, the sound and the appearance. Each time I step out to the pond I find something else to enjoy, a small fish cave or special rock placement above the water that is interesting.

What’s Included

Want a water feature, but don’t want the safety concerns of standing water—or the responsibility of maintaining a full ecosystem pond? A pondless waterfall gives you the best part of a water feature: moving water, sound, and natural beauty, without an open pond.

It’s a waterfall and stream that disappears into the landscape. Water flows over the falls, winds through the streambed, and then vanishes into a hidden underground reservoir where it’s recirculated back to the top—so everything looks natural, clean, and intentional.

This is one of the most popular choices for homeowners because it checks the boxes that matter:

  • Safer for families and pets than open water
  • Fits smaller yards and front-yard landscaping where a pond can feel crowded
  • Lower maintenance than a full ecosystem pond—no fish, no plants, no balancing an ecosystem
  • Energy-efficient because it doesn’t need to run 24/7
  • Easy to control with a timer for daytime/nighttime ambiance or when you’re traveling

How a Pondless Waterfall Works (in plain English)

A deeper basin (the “reservoir”) is excavated and lined with underlayment + a 45 mil EPDM liner. A pump vault is installed, then the basin is filled with structural rock and gravel and topped with decorative stone so the water level stays below the surface—you don’t see a pond, only natural rock.

A pump housed in the vault pushes water up to the top of the feature, where it spills into the waterfall and stream. The water returns through the streambed and drops back into the hidden reservoir, repeating the cycle. The result is a true waterfall experience—with no visible pond.

If you want the impact of a water feature with a simpler ownership experience, pondless is the move.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is a pondless waterfall worth it?

A: If you want maximum visual and sound impact with minimal upkeep, yes. Pondless waterfalls are one of the best ROI outdoor upgrades because they deliver the “wow” factor without the ongoing responsibilities of maintaining a full pond ecosystem.

Q: Are pondless waterfalls hard to maintain?

A: Not compared to a pond. Maintenance is usually limited to topping off water (evaporation and splash) and checking for debris/obstructions. Most homeowners find pondless upkeep is a fraction of what an ecosystem pond requires.

Q: What areas do you serve for installations?

A: We install water features in Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Southern Douglas County, and the surrounding area.

Q: How long does a typical installation take?
